In anticipation of my two-day Anberlin binge next week – Sept 4 in Brisbane and Sept 5 (VIP!) on the Gold Coast – this song of the week takes us back to the early days of the band.

My favourite song from their second album ‘Never Take Friendship Personal’ – A Day Late.

For whatever reason I only actually bought this album a couple of weeks ago, but I tell you what, it’s AMAZING. Can’t wait until the shows next week!

I know I have posted Yellowcard before, but in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the band’s debut album Ocean Avenue and the subsequent release of the Ocean Avenue – Acoustic album (my signed copy of which arrived late last week!) I am sharing them with you again.

This is the official video for the acoustic version of Ocean Avenue from the new album. Honestly, I don’t really dig the video. I think using the crowd was a cool idea, but hearing the band sing the whole song on the album – as well as all the other songs – is far more enjoyable.

I will be seeing these guys in Brisbane at the end of September – they’re performing the acoustic album in its entirety – so watch out for a review from the show when the time comes!

I bought Paramore’s latest album on a whim the other week because it was only $10. That purchase has inspired a love for the band that I never really had before. Seriously, it is fantastic.

This is one of my favourite songs so far. It’s called Ain’t It Fun. The only video I could find was a live performance, but it’s pretty damn good!

And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman by Dance Gavin Dance.

Love this band to bits. New album coming soon, so I figured it was time to share some of their post-hardcore goodness with you all. It’s not for everybody, but then nothing really is, is it?

Also sharing this because I sadly missed original front-man Jonny Craig perform in Brisbane this past weekend because I had my beautiful Mum’s birthday party. I hear he was bloody fantastic though!

I’ve had this song in my head on and off since the middle of last week, so I just had to share.

N’Sync: Girlfriend

Flashback much? Enjoy!

“Take away these lines, it’s making no sense to me but we don’t care, let’s see if I can change…”

This song of the week is a from an alternative rock band I have seen perform at least twice (maybe even three times) who hail from my hometown of Brisbane, Australia.

The band is Dead Letter Circus (affectionately known as DLC) and the song is called Lines which is without a doubt my favourite DLC song.

Dead Letter Circus was formed in late 2004, releasing one self-titled EP that was very well received. A number of singles made it to high rotation on radio station Triple J and they toured Australia extensively off the back of this EP. Their first full-length album This is the Warning was released on May 14, 2010. DLC began work on a new album to be titled The Catalyst Fire in early 2012. It was confirmed by the band last week on June 28 that this album is now complete (hooray!) and will be released on August 9, 2013.

Check out Lines and keep an eye out for The Catalyst Fire next month! I know I’m very keen to hear what they’ve been working on.

(Not the greatest video, but it was the best I could find)

“We all wanna feel something, we all wanna feel something, we all wanna feel something, but we don’t wanna change…”

New Found Glory are a pop-punk band from Florida, USA. The band has been going strong for 16 years and are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. They have released seven original studio albums as well as three covers albums, two video albums, two EPs and a Christmas album. The guys are currently working on their next album, due out later this year.

This is the first New Found Glory song I ever heard and it started a love affair that has lasted nearly ten years so far. It’s called Hit Or Miss. Check it out!
